As I’m getting ready to embark upon the “trip of a lifetime” with my parents to the Mediterranean, I’m finding myself to be quite nostalgic about another time when I went on another great trip with a family member. This is me and Aunt Marilyn in Hawaii in May 2004. It was Marilyn’s trip of a lifetime.
We saw Elvis. Twice.
He draped a scarf around her neck and kissed her on the cheek. She nearly swooned.
We toured all over the great island of Oahu (before I knew that I could have been stalking “Lost” cast members). Marilyn slept upright through several nightly shows. Except Elvis. It was a great week.
Aunt Marilyn passed away on March 15, 2006. And it is partially thanks to her that my parents and I are going to be able to take this amazing adventure. So, we will buy a baseball cap and a t-shirt for you, Marilyn. But, we will not be seeing Elvis. I hope.
