the stage

Last night I performed on the stage at the Lyric Theater in Downtown Blacksburg. It was probably the last time that I’ll perform on that stage.

For those of you who do not live here, the Lyric is in many ways the heartbeat of this community. It was restored several years ago to prestige of the early 20th century, and now it has become a gathering spot for all. Although it primarily shows movies, some great performances have taken place there.

I was really honored to have been able to participate in this production because it was for a cause that I really believed in and because it was working with friends that I really wanted to support. It just boiled down to a five-minute monologue and a couple of other lines–so don’t get huffy that I didn’t invite you to town to see me perform!

Ulimately, what I really wanted to tell you about though is, I got so much out of the experience–that, that, inexplicable performance high. I had nearly forgotten what it felt like. And, all day today I’ve been wondering why I don’t do this more often.

Oh well, here’s to graduation, and settling down and potentially finding an artistic home where I can hopefully get back into it again a little bit here and there when I feel like it!
